SORTWAVE – Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 October 2026
In short: SORTWAVE has no accounts. You play under a nickname you choose, and your progress stays on your device. If you use the online leaderboards, your nickname and scores are sent to them under a random, anonymous player ID. The game shows ads (served by Google AdMob) and offers optional purchases (handled by Google Play or the App Store). We ourselves do not collect your name, email, contacts or location, and we do not sell your data.
Who we are
SORTWAVE is made by Thyon LLC ("we"). For anything about this policy or your data, write to contact@thyon.dev.
What the game stores and sends
| Data | Where it lives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your nickname | On your device. Sent to the leaderboards if you are online. | To show who made a score. |
| Your scores (mode, score) | On your device. Sent to the leaderboards if you are online. | To rank scores. |
| An anonymous player ID (random, made on first launch) | Unity Gaming Services. | So the leaderboards know which scores are yours. It is not tied to your name, email or device identifiers. |
| Your progress (levels, Chips, Prisms, unlocked items, settings) | Only on your device. | To keep your game. |
| What you bought in the game (for example Remove Ads) | On your device, and with Google Play or the App Store. | To give you what you paid for, and to restore it on a new phone. |
| Advertising data (your device's advertising ID, IP address, rough location derived from it, which ads were shown) | Google AdMob and its ad partners. We do not receive or store it. | To show ads, limit how often you see one, and measure them. Personalised ads only with your consent. |
| A play log of finished runs (length, Heat reached, mistakes) | Only on your device. Never sent anywhere. | You can copy it yourself in Settings to send us feedback, if you want to. |
The game asks for no device permissions: no camera, microphone, contacts, photos or location.
Online leaderboards
The leaderboards run on Unity Gaming Services (Unity Technologies), which processes the anonymous player ID, your nickname, your scores and technical data needed to deliver the service (such as your IP address, briefly, to answer the request). Unity's own policy is at unity.com/legal/privacy-policy. You can play every mode offline; then nothing is sent.
Ads
The game shows ads from Google AdMob: a full-screen ad between some runs, and an optional video you can choose to watch for a small reward. To serve and measure ads, Google and its partners process your device's advertising ID, IP address and ad interaction data. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the game asks for your consent the first time it runs; you can refuse personalised ads and still play, and on iOS the system also asks whether the app may track you. You can reset or switch off the advertising ID in your phone's settings. How Google uses this data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Buying "Remove Ads" stops the full-screen ads.
Purchases
Purchases (Prisms, Remove Ads) are optional and are paid through Google Play or the App Store. They handle the payment; we never see your card or billing details. We only learn that a purchase was made, so the game can deliver it. Prisms buy looks only: nothing you can buy makes the game easier.
Analytics
The game has no analytics SDK of its own and does not track you across other apps or websites beyond what the ad service does as described above.
Children
SORTWAVE is a general-audience game, not directed at children under 13, with no chat and no links to social networks. Ads are limited to content rated for general audiences. Please pick a nickname that does not contain a real name or other personal information.
How long data is kept, and deleting it
- On your device: uninstalling the game (or clearing its data) deletes your progress, settings and play log.
- On the leaderboards: your nickname and scores stay until you ask us to remove them. Write to contact@thyon.dev with your nickname (and tag) and we will delete your leaderboard entries and anonymous player ID within 30 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the EU/EEA or UK under the GDPR), you can ask to see, correct or delete the data linked to your anonymous player ID, or object to its processing. We process it because it is needed to provide the leaderboards you chose to use. You can also complain to your local data-protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date.
